Steve Nixon Memorial Bursary

The Steve Nixon Memorial Bursary honors the life and legacy of Mr. Steve Nixon. Steve was a caring husband, father, and friend. Mr. Nixon was deeply committed to the youth of our community. He worked as a youth probation officer and helped many troubled youths get back on track in their personal lives.

He coached all levels of minor hockey for many years. Steve had a unique way to connect with his players and cared deeply for them as young people. His positive attitude and outlook on life has influenced many of his former players as they transition into their adult lives. 

Steve was an avid golfer and was a long-time member at Mountain Woods Golf Club. A bursary of $2,000 will be awarded to a graduating student from a local high school who is or was a junior member of Mountain Woods Golf Club.

 Please include the following in your application:

  1. A letter of acceptance to a recognized post-secondary institution
  2. A transcript of marks
  3. A resume 
  4. A short essay describing how participation in extra curricular activities has benefited your life. The essay should not exceed 500 words.
